Apple Day is a community celebration of the harvest season. We have been working with The Garden Project and CSU; together we were able to secure a donation of 300 brats from Sunnyside Meats. Woo! We are working on getting the PTO and Zia's to help us out by donating condiments, buns, plates/boats, and chips. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards building an outdoor classroom space in the garden here at Needham.
When: Sunday, October 6th
Time: Open to public from 11am to 4pm
Where: Buckley Park
What: Celebration of the harvest season. There will be live music, games, local food vendors, apple tastings, crafts, and games. Needham will be grilling.
What we need from you:
1. Please help us spread the word about this fundraiser to your students and families. We would love to see our families there! We will be sending out an IC blast, but getting the word out via word of mouth and newsletters this week would be appreciated.
2. Call for booth volunteers! You can sign up to help us out here! We have broken the day up into a few shifts. We're hoping for 3 volunteers at each shift, and we're working on breaking that third shift up so that the closers are there from 4:00 - - 5:00 breaking down. If you'd like to volunteer at the booth, sign up for a time slot. For each shift, there will need to be a
-Food quality controller and coordinator
If we don't get enough teacher volunteers we'll extend this to parents/board members.
3. Student-created signage. If your class would like to make posters to hang up around the school advertising the fundraiser, that would be awesome. I know I will try to find a time in the next few days for my 2nd graders to do this. You can have a student bring them to me by the Friday the 4th.
4. Of course, if you are really excited about this NDE -- Garden -- Community connection and want to be a part of it, you can always join our committee. : )
Let us know if you have any questions.
