Community Update on Cohort Closures - 11.10.20

While the individuals’ privacy is protected by law, those students and/or staff members who were in direct contact with them have been contacted. The affected students and staff members will now need to quarantine for the 14-day quarantine period. Please note that this was not your students’ cohort, as they have been contacted separately; but we wanted all families in the district to be aware of the situation.

We are in contact with the SJBPH team, and are implementing our response plan that was created in the event of this scenario.

As mentioned in our earlier communications regarding the district pivoting to remote, transmission rates and positivity rates in our community are on the rise, and we are seeing much bigger impacts on our staff and students. In the past week, 12 cohorts went into quarantine. With these trends, we are at a critical point where we must make some immediate shifts in our learning models for families in an effort to slow the spread of the virus and reduce the spike in cases we are experiencing in our community.

Because of this, ALL students in all models are shifting to full remote learning beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, November 11, 2020, continuing through the winter break, which ends on January 4, 2021. We regret the additional stress this short notice has provided to our families, but are hopeful that our quick action will help us reduce our transmission rates and return to in-person learning as soon as possible.

The 3 W’s of 9-R schools were created to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and it is critically important all students and staff follow the guidelines:

  • Wear a Mask
  • Wash Your Hands
  • Watch Your Distance

It is also important that all of our families monitor the health of all members and make sure that anyone who is feeling ill STAYS HOME.

The school is commended for handling this situation according to all the guidelines of the 9-R Process Map for Symptomatic Cases. Following the guidelines in our Return to Learn 9-R plan, immediate steps were taken according to our plan and our process map for positive COVID-19 cases. Upon finding a positive in this case, the cohort will immediately go into quarantine and begin remote learning through the quarantine period. In an abundance of caution, we will conduct additional cleaning in the affected area to ensure our disinfecting techniques will address any additional concerns.

Please remember to socially distance and abide by the state order to wear a face mask.  All of us need to be vigilant so we can return to in-person learning as soon as possible.
